We had a stretch of gloomy days here in Bend this winter (a rarity), and then out of nowhere a frost and a morning full of sunlight turned the entire town into a glittering wonder. I pulled my van over on the side of the road on my way to drop my girls off at school just to snap a picture of my favorite spot in town as it shone: Mirror Pond. This painting was inspired by that moment, when the reflection was bright and soft, and winter weather felt like a gift.
